Linda Schultz is one of the pioneers of women's amateur wrestling, teaching the sport as well as competing in numerous matches. Her best-known bout was probably her match-up with Judell Du Long.

Profile and Wrestling history

Linda is a 26 year-old blonde who's weight is 9 st 4 lbs. (130 lbs.) and stands 5 ft 5 ins tall. For most wrestling matches Linda prefers to wear either a bikini or bra and briefs. Linda started wrestling in 1968 in connection with her husband's interests. Since her first match against a girlfriend. Linda has greatly enhanced her knowledge of wrestling holds and moves. She has become well known throughout America and the United Kingdom as a competent amateur wrestler who is willing to wrestle against almost any woman of approximate weight. Between 1968 and 1974 Linda had met, and wrestled against, most of the top girls and women on the amateur wrestling scene. During this time Linda has helped to pioneer amateur wrestling for women. Being one of the very first amateur wrestlers she has seen amateur wrestling grow to its present position. ln 1972 and 1973 Linda taught a class on amateur wrestling for the YWCA in Springfield, Massachusetts. Until 1972 Linda was undefeated. During this period she met and wrestled against Jo and Jane from the New England States area. Unfortunately, Linda has never beaten either woman at wrestling. Jane has since retired from wrestling with only one defeat to her credit. Linda expects to meet with Jo upon her return to America later this year. Perhaps her experiences here in England will help her to defeat Jo during their wrestling encounters. Due to an injury to the knee tendons in 1972 Linda was unable to wrestle at her previous abilities. She sustained a number of defeats, but learned from these experiences as well. Being fully recovered by 1973 Linda reasserted her abilities by beating a woman from Louisiana and then in 1974 she presented a good showing in New York City. At that time there was a meeting of some eight amateur wrestlers from across the country. Also in 1974 Linda wrestled against Judell Du Long who is considered by many to be the submissions only champion. The match was held in California at Judell's home. Although Judell defeated Linda, she said that Linda was her toughest match to date. Linda is hoping to meet against Judell in 1978 and possibly reverse their previous meeting. ln late 1974 Linda and her husband moved to lpswich in Suffolk, England. They had heard that the British girls were very active and tough so they hoped for many good matches. lt has not come about. Linda has been extremely disappointed in that only two British women have come forth to meet her. She has had a number of meetings against Kathy of Oxford. Kathy has remained undefeated over many years of amateur wrestling. Being quite capable and extremely strong she sent Linda the route of her other contestants. Linda has also met and wrestled against Angela Mack. She has had better results in these meetings and has scored slightly more victories than defeats against Angela. Both girls are extremely well matched in size, strength, and abilities and each of their meetings was a well fought contest to determine a winner with each woman giving her best.
