Editing WrestleWiki

From Female Submission Wrestling Encyclopedia
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Thank you for considering becoming a WrestleWiki editor. I hope this small guide will help you become a part of the community. If you have any difficulties understanding the instructions, please feel free to create a thread on this article's Discussion page (tab with red link above the title), or drop me an email at zweig [AT] wrestlewiki [DOT] com. I will be more than glad to be able to help you out.

If you are not familiar with how wikis work at all please refer to Help:Contents.

General info

WrestleWiki is at the stage of creation. It will be what we make it. But we don't want random results, and thus I came up with a primitive structure that can later be developed. It is very important to hear suggestions at this stage - please leave them on the Discussion page. Because once the wiki grows it will be very difficult to make major changes. As difficult as going through each page, one at a time.

Categories

For a start here are the 4 categories that each page shall be attributed to. Please read this MediaWiki article if you are not knowledgeable about categories.

Category:Wrestlers - obviously, all wrestlers will go into this category.
Category:Production Companies - category for production companies
Category:Producers - individuals making video, related to or owning a production company
Category:Artists - genre artists

Here's an updated list: Special:UncategorizedCategories - two of the categories are empty at the moment.

As ideas come up, we may all create extra categories when in need. If you have suggestions now, please leave them on the Discussion page.

Wrestler pages

Before reading on please check out these pages first: Petra, Diana (Antscha), Helen Von Mott.

As you can see, articles about wrestlers shall have a standard format. At the beginning of the page you shall paste a blank Wrestler box template. This will add an infobox to the right of the article with all the biographical and professional data that you will input. Check out the aforepasted link as it has more information regarding this template.

Then there is general information, then Notable Matches section, then known competitive F/F, and then competitive mixed wrestling record. At the end of the page you may add extra links to more information about the wrestler, and a gallery.

Let's analyze Petra's page:

The Infobox template at the beginning

General info

More on the wrestler. Biography, interesting facts.

Petra has wrestled exclusively for DWW. Her weight and aggressiveness along with great lower body strength have
made her one of the top girls at DWW.

F/F record

I'm pasting only the beginning of the record table, so that you know how it constructed. To see the complete table, go to Petra's page and click on Edit on top of the page - Edit link appears after you register.

A list of PAGENAME's competitive F/F wrestling matches. This list is not complete.

This results in this:

A list of Petra's competitive F/F wrestling matches. This list is not complete.

Date Producer Video Title Opponent Result Rules Comments & Links
2011/01 DWW MOVIES-1028 Pamela 7-0 pins only Link to match
2010/10 DWW MOVIES-984 Luna 4-2 pins & submissions Link to match
2010 DWW MOVIES-896 Mel 6-0 pins only Link to match

The PAGENAME variable is replaced with the wrestler's name (Petra in this case) automatically, as the page name IS the wrestler's name.

You just need to create / modify the relevant lines of a record row. You do not need to understand how the table is constructed to be able to edit the data. Just remember that the header

A list of PAGENAME's competitive F/F wrestling matches. This list is not complete.

style="background:#d0e5f5" | Date
style="background:#d0e5f5" | Producer
style="background:#d0e5f5" | Video Title
style="background:#d0e5f5; width:100px;" | Opponent
style="background:#d0e5f5" class="unsortable" | Result
style="background:#d0e5f5" | Rules
style="background:#d0e5f5" class="unsortable" | Comments & Links

always stays intact. You just create / modify the rows. Here's one row of record:

2011/01
DWW
MOVIES-1028
class="opponent" | Pamela
class="won" | 7-0
pins only
Link to match

The |- characters starts a new row.

The |} characters close the record table.

Each cell begins with the | character.

The first cell of the row is the date of the match in YYYY/MM/DD format. The date can be precise, as to show the day, or if you just know the year, you may leave it as YYYY. Or you may omit it if you do not know. You may actually omit any data that you do not possess, but just leave the | sign, do not delete it as it will destroy the structure of the row.

The second cell is the name of the production company. The third - title of the video.

The fourth cell contains the name of the opponent in square brackets. Square brackets in wiki create an internal link - in this case to the opponent's page. Even if the page does not exist, please do not remove square brackets, as in the future some might create it. You should leave them at all times. Also, do not modify the preceding class= statement. It is a standard and is there to format the text.

The fifth cell is the result of the match. class has to have one of the following values: "won", "lost" or "draw" - each of these will color the cell differently. If you do not know the result, just put in "???" after the equal sign. And the score of submissions and/or pins comes after the | sign.

The sixth cell contains information about the rules of the match. In the first articles I have been using these strings for rules:

 • submissions only
 • pins & submissions
 • pins only
 • catfight & submissions - many DWW videos for eg. will eventually fall into this category of rules, where they allow hairpulling and / or slapping.
 • facesitting - only facesitting & smothering submissions were allowed
 • special rules - any strange rules, for eg. one opponent was allowed only bodyscissors, while the other only pins, with handcuffed wrists.

You will add new types of rules as necessary. Let's say if there happen to be competitive breast-smothering matches, or only scissor matches, you might use breast-smothering only & scissors submissions only respectively. The rules are not linked to articles, thus it is not a big hassle, but let's keep it standard to make it easy for everybody to read, modify & edit pages.

It bears repeat that the wrestling record should contain only competitive matches, as there are no winners or losers in fantasy matches, because in that type of matches everybody is a winner :)

F/M record

The same table goes here with the exception of the introductional text containing the abbreviation F/M, rather than F/F:

A list of PAGENAME's competitive F/M wrestling matches. This list is not complete.

~and here goes the same record table with male opponents.~

Relevant links

This part shall contain links to articles or anything else related to the wrestler. Here's what this section looks like on Helen Von Mott's page:

Relevant links
* An interview of Helen to Russian Female Single Combat Club, 2005

Adding a gallery

You can add a gallery to the end of a wrestler article by pasting this to the end of the page, just before category attributions:

Gallery
<gallery>
File:FOM-265_Petra_vs_Petr_111.jpg|Petra vs Petr
File:Petra vs Emanuella.jpg|Petra vs Emanuella
File:movies-445_Petra vs Lucille 2.jpg|Pinning Lucille
File:movies-445_Petra vs Lucille 3.jpg|Pinning Lucille yet again
File:Lonnie_vs_Petra-16.jpg|Petra vs Lonnie
File:Petra vs Luna.jpg|Petra struggling to take Luna down
File:Petra_vs_Marco-01.jpg|Marco helpless in Petra's headscissors
File:Petra and Renata B staredownjpg.jpg|Petra and Renata B staredown
File:Petra vs Jana N.jpg|Petra vs Jana N
File:Petra_vs_Paul-14.jpg|Paul is about to submit
File:Petra_vs_Richard-07.jpg|Petra vs Richard
File:Petra_vs_Richard-12.jpg|Petra showing her biceps after defeating Richard
File:Petra pinning Luzia.jpg|Petra pinning Luzia
File:Max_vs_Petra-06.jpg|Petra vs Max
</gallery>

You can see the result on Petra's page.

It is simply a list of filenames and relevant captions between <gallery> </gallery> tags. The filename should be preceded by File: and the caption should be input after the aforementioned | sign.

You may upload images either one by one using Special:Upload tool, or ten at a time using Special:BatchUpload. You can find both links on the left sidebar at all times.

Try to always include a caption. Also, do not forget to put square brackets around any text (wrestler name, company name) that has or might have a page on this wiki. If you have linked one of the captions to a particular wrestler's name, you do not need to do that again in the next picture, if it happens to have her / his name too. One link per page per gallery is enough.

To read more about images, you can visit our Help:Images#Gallery_syntax page.

Assigning the category

At the end of it all, the last line of any wrestler's page should contain a simple category assignment statement: If the wrestler happens to be a producer too, this is how the end of the page will look like:

Company pages

Before reading on please check out these pages first: DWW, Belgian Fighting Women, Les Lutteuses Rochefortoises.

Video production company or club pages should follow this basic structure:

At the beginning of the page you shall paste a blank Company box template. This will add an infobox to the right of the article with all the information that you will input. Check out the aforepasted link as it has more information regarding this template.

Then there is general information and Notable Wrestlers section. At the end of the page you may add extra links and a gallery.

Let's analyze DWW's page:

The Infobox template at the beginning

Check out Company box template page for more info on this.

To be continued

More on editing pages of other categories later. By now you should have a basic understanding of how wikis work. Please be careful if you are a new editor not to break pages. You have the power to edit any page at any moment, if you are registered that is. And let's all be a little more responsible with the work that we do altogether.

Any editor is a priceless asset for this wiki now, because it has practically ZERO content and we are starting from scratch. So, if you are a devoted female submission wrestling fan and you wish to donate your time and knowledge to this project, you are more than important to us.

Good luck!
