Sarah Patterson was a mixed martial artist. WMMA Rankings is saddened to report that former Invicta FC fighter Sarah “Primal” Patterson has passed away at the age of 36. Fighter Alias, the team that Patterson trained at, confirmed the devastating news in a Facebook post on Sunday night. “We are deeply saddened upon learning the passing yesterday of our friend and fighter, Team Fighter Alias’s Sarah Patterson. Sarah had an amazing spirit and was such a kind-hearted person. We were proud and honored to sponsor her at Invicta Fighting Championships 32! R.I.P. Sarah, you will be deeply missed.” Fighter Alias posted.
Patterson (5-5-0) competed in professional MMA competition from the year 2002 up until 2018. She fought for a number of notable organizations including Invicta FC, Dynasty Combat Sports and SteelFist Fight Night. The veteran competitor picked up first-round finishes over the likes of Tamikka Brents, Killastina Makihele and Erica Grover during her time competing in the sport.
‘Primal’ fought the majority of her career fights at 155-pounds and is a pioneer for female fighters who compete at lightweight, a division which did not have many opportunities going their way up until the PFL launched with Kayla Harrison. At this moment in time, the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned for more updates.
