During the 1990s when Santana was wrestling for Steel Kittens, a rumor passed around the early internet stated that Santana was the wrestler who portrayed Spanish Red in the 1980s G.L.O.W. promotion. They were not the same person, despite an uncanny resemblance.
Santana stepped away from the wrestling scene in 2005, but came back out of retirement shortly before her passing.
Death
In 2015, the local police department stated that Santana was shot to death by a man she was dating. The suspect apparently then shot himself.
