Rica was a wrestler for the German Mat Club. Rica had an eventful, albeit abbreviated, wrestling career. She won a tournament, boxed, and wrestled in the nude in both singles and tag action. Rica surprised her opponents who didn’t expect such a slender wrestler to be so difficult to deal with on the mats.

Rica’s wrestling career got off to a fast start that may never be equalled — winning an 8-woman tournament without surrendering a single point! Later in that session, she had a rematch against her opponent in the tournament final, Karin, in a boxing match. Karin knocked Rica down for the 10-count (administered by Jeff the Ref) with a solid left to the face that had Rica holding her glove to her nose as Jeff counted her out. Rica’s willingness to box was admirable as she later participated in a 4-woman boxing tournament. She first defeated Shanan in a split judge’s decision of 2-1. However, if one has based the decision on how much discomfort each was at the end, Shanan easily would have been the victor. In the final, Petsi pummeled Rica with hard shots to the body for a TKO win.
Before that boxing tournament, Rica suffered her first loss in a wrestling match to the impressive Tatjana. Rica also lost to Petsi in the first round of the “Knickers Elimination” tournament to the eventual champion, Petsi. As per the unusual tournament rules, after Jeff the Ref announced the 2-1 victory for the shorter brunette, Rica removed her orange briefs and handed them to Petsi before returning to her corner.
Rica ended her all-too-brief wrestling career on a high note, defeating Shanan in a nude wrestling match that set the standard for competitive nude wrestling.
Although Rica’s wrestled for a limited time, she was the forerunner in two respects. First, she elevated the use of bodyscissors. An obvious move one can say in hindsight, but in the late ‘80s it was used all too infrequently (and notwithstanding that the audience would frequently call for a wrestler to use the hold). Second, Rica — along with Crys - broke the mould of the sturdily-built European wrestler and it was refreshing to see how a relatively slender yet strong woman could take down the likes of Karin and Shanan. Finally, Rica deserves praise simply for not following the then-current fashion of a permed-out 80s hairstyle.
